I’m Julia, illustrator and nature enthusiast.
On my blog, I share sketching tips for nature, my experiments with watercolor, ink and colored pencils; but also what I learned from my own journey as a professional illustrator, my thoughts on perfectionism, overwhelm and burnout, and how I manage to stay creative. I also talk about topics like social media fatigue, how to build a sustainable business as an artist and how to stay sane as a creative person in this strange world.
I hope my blog can be a calm and purposefully slow place that reconnects you with the natural world and with your creativity, a place that at times invites you to stop for a moment to watch the clouds in the sky.
I’ve gotten so much back from nature it over the years. Field sketching (or keeping a nature journal) has become a daily practice, a way to see and make sense of the world.
My blog is completely free and as an independent artist I rely on your support to keep it running. If you enjoy reading it and learn something, please consider donating a small amount or taking one of my courses.
